I don't necessarily have a problem with that solution, other than I'm trying to see if there is a way to can avoid using VPN if it's just for that. The best I can come up with is just to let them VPN into work, and then use TightVNC. Teamviewer is the most obvious solution, but I don't want really want to pay for it, and I don't want to risk getting sued for misusing the "Personal Use" tier.Īll of the files they need are accessed via Nextcloud, so they don't otherwise have a need for VPN. Still, I wouldn't mind adding a secondary method in case that doesn't work. It uses WebRTC and works sort of like Zoom. SplashTop is not quite as fast as TeamViewer / AnyDesk, but it does work, and it offers some nice extras that the other two dont. We currently use 3CX, which has a remote control feature built in. We only have it installed on some of our endpoints (for 8.25/month you only get to access 10), and wish that they released a self-hosted, one-time fee edition. Basically a means of screen sharing, mostly for basic troubleshooting or possibly coaching on the couple pieces of software they use. I need a good secondary way to administer it. They will be given a laptop to use for their work stuff. Work is adding an employee that will WFH part-time, soon.
